Troop 4
Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church
Vestavia Hills, Alabama
Boy Scout Troop 4 was established at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in 1957. Troop 4 has grown with VHUMC and the community, serving boys in Vestavia Hills for over 55 years. Today, Troop 4 has 60 active scouts. As a part of Eagle Scout projects and other service activities, Troop 4 contributes an average of 700 hours per year to the community. Notable among community related projects have been the outdoor chapel and Labyrinth at VHUMC, trail improvements on the Central nature tail, the cross-country course at Vestavia High, the staircase to the lower playfield at Central, and landscaping and outdoor classroom projects at East, Pizitz and many locations in Birmingham.
Troop 4 was the founding Troop of the annual Christmas tree lot on US-31 which now includes the participation of ten over-the-mountain troops. Troop 4 is led by Committee Chairman, Michael Moore and Scoutmaster, Kenny Haynes.
Troop 4 was the first Troop in Vestavia Hills! We are an active troop that believes boys learn by doing. We generally take one camping trip per month and attend a week long summer camp each year in June. Additionally, our older scouts take one high adventure trip each year (exp. Northern Tier, Sea Base or Philmont). We'd love to have you visit one of our meetings and learn more about our Troop. Please feel free to contact us via this website. Thanks.
